Subject:What's the use of registering?

Hi There,

I'm a registered user of ACID PRO 2.0 and 3.0, VEGAS Audio 2.0, VEGAS Video 2.0 and 3.0 and Sound Forge 5.0. (Also registered SIREN Jukebox on a blue Monday)

On May 7 2002 11:35 pm I ordered Sound Forge 6.0 Upgrade for $149.95. One days later I received a message from Sonic Foundry through the SF-Users news group from someone else (Forward), with an option to get SF 6.0 update for only $ 129.95 or $ 199.95 with the NR 2.0 plug-in. This is the second time that I didn't get a message like that one, and so I didn't profit from such a nice offer. I really liked the $ 199.95 update and now I don’t have it:(

Why did I leave my e-mail several times during registration of the applications when nothing is done with this e-mail? Why don’t I profit from being a registered user. Several friends of mine think that I’m stupid because I pay for something that they can get for free. "Get a hacked version and download the manual". Maybe one time there will be no more Sonic Foundry and you can't activate you're software anymore but the hacked version will still work. Another problem with the activation code is, that every time I called support because the activation code didn't work, I feel like a criminal. A lot of times I installed and will install my OS to keep it clean and at speed, but now and then I have to call support for a reset of activation code.

Don’t get me wrong, all my software is legal and registered and will so be in the future, but I’m thinking, “Why do I pay for something that I can get for free”. I don’t even get be noticed of special priced updates, what is the profit of registering software for me?

Regards,
Diederick F.M. Cools.

p.s. My frustration is now written and I don’t need to go to my psychiatrist, but I still feel <bleep>.

p.s.s. I hope my english is good, so that you can understand what I mean, I'm a dutch guy you know.

Diederick,

Contact the Sonic Foundry customer service team, and I'm sure they will be able to help you out with your situation. 608-256-3133.

Thanks,

When you register, make sure to have the "notify me when Sonic Foundry has promotions" (or something like that) checked. That way, you should get the special offers. I say "should" because I could have sworn I agreed to be contacted when SF6.0 was released, via their pop-up window. Oh well...

When I registered and many times since I have checked every 'notify me' of anything box. And I didn't get diddly squat for information about an upgrade. If I didn't check these boards I wouldn't know a thing.

Oh, by the way, does Sonic Foundry make a multitrack recorder software. (#&^)#$...:)

I have never had this problem. Sonic Foundry always sends me special deals on software updates. Not to mention they always let me know of Acidplanet contests, new loop libraries, and lots of other stuff. Could it be that mabey you guys get so much junk mail (SPAM) like the rest of us that you accidently delete a notice from Sonic Foundry? I've been known to do it once or twice.

I don't get e-mail from Sonic Foundry at all. The only a-mail I get is “Thank you for your recent purchase of a Sonic Foundry downloadable product . . .” and the “Thank you for visiting Sonic Foundry's Online Store. . .” after buying the software online. During registration I always let them use my e-mail except for the usage of third party advertisements (or something like that).

I don't get junk mail at all; I’m very carefully with my regular e-mail account.

Sometimes when I'm not sure how they will use my e-mail I give a wrong name so that I can find out who is abusing my e-mail, like Diederik instead of Diederick or kools instead of Cools etc...

To clarify...
I do get the e-mails, that's why I said " I could have sworn that...", it might be a mistake on my part.
