Hey All, Just wondering what you think of any 3rd party loop libraries you've come across. Do you find them to be "properly acidized" high quality, etc.? Also, do you like libraries that cover a wide range of styles & instruments, or do you like the ones that concentrate on one specific instrument/genre? Just wondering. KH |

I have the Master Bits Sound clips 12000 from Data Becker. For the money you get a buttload of samples. Lots of stuff to tweak and mutate. |

go with style specific. that way you wont be disappointed when you discover only 10 loops out of 100 are what you had in mind... no disrespect to sf but i find their library to be weak and misleading when it comes to loops other than d&b/techno. thats why i make my own with acid... |

Hold your tongue! ;o) I politely disagree. I like to create industrial projects. The Bill Laswell Collection is incredible, as well as David Torn's collection, the Industrial Toolkit and Junkyard Rhythms. While I can agree that by and large there's lots of techno/dnb material available compared to the other genres, there's something in here for everyone, even a noisemaker/mangler like me. (I do record and create my own loops as well.) Iacobus |

what i really mean is that outside of the electronic genres there isn't much available from sf... even that bill laswell collection has nothing in it to make a cool "material" groove... |

Let me step in on this.. I got some crappy 8 bit wave CD's from a discount store, cost me $2.00. With some mangling and twisting I got some very interesting grooves going. I do all styles because Acid lets me put down what has been rolling around in my head for years. There are enough plug-ins and effects to render some incredible tunes on any number of waves. Take a snippet, rip it apart, spit it out, twist and mangle, refry it, nuke the crap out of it, NOW YOUR TALKING..... good day, musicdog |

What I like most about "looping" (which I once considered "cheating," as I am a composer) is the fact that you can take someone else's "clip" and put it with a few others and create your own thing out of it. I just wish the loop libraries were a little more "accurate" with what they are depicted to be when compared to what they actually are. I'm currently working on my own loops CD. Anyone interested in a sample, email me at info@harkproductions.com and I'll post a link to a sample zip file, and you can let me know what you think. |
