The upgrade information accompanying Sound Forge v6.0 makes several references to a "MainConcept MPEG 1+2 plug-in" that is required to work with MPEG files, but provides no additional information about the plug-in. As I do need to work with MPEG files, information about this plug-in is critical. I did visit the MainConcept web page (www.mainconcept.com) but it does not provide specific information about any particular plug-in that will work with Sound Forge v6.0. Any guidance would be appreciated. |

You can work with MPEG 1 and 2, but it requires the purchase of the MainConcept MPEG plug-in. When you go to save as an MPEG in Sound Forge, it should direct you to purchase the plug-in. HTH, Iacobus |

Thanks ... I was prompted to purchase the plug-in, but now my dilemma is whether or not to purchase the standard or professional version. I'm not really interested in tasking Sound Forge with compressing my MPEG files, but I am interested in having a full range of controls over the audio portion of my files. Any guidance regarding whether or not the standard version is appropriate would be appreciated. |

I don't know enough about MPEG and your needs, but I can say that if you purchase Standard, you can later upgrade to Professional. The cost is the same as if you'd purchased Professional. Standard 29.95, Upgrade 70.00, Professional 99.95. Maybe this helps, Suzan SOnic Foundry |
