Subject:Problem: Normalize with Sound Forge 4.5 XP

I'm new to this, and am kind of stuck on normalizing... I have Sound Forge XP 4.5 (came with my Yamaha AW4416). I read through the manual yesterday and worked with several audio files. Everything is great and fine, except for when I experimented with Normalizing. From reading the manual and help and stuff I found on the internet, I believe that I should be able to Normalize using "Peak" values or using "RMS." However, I can't see how to select between the two. When I open the Normalize dialog box, I do not see any options for checking "Peak" or "RMS" values. I see no check boxes at all, only a large slider with 0.db (100%) written at the top (this value changes when the slider moves) and "Normalze to (-60 to 0 db) written at the bottom (this value never changes.) The only buttons on the box are OK, Cancel, and Help. The only check box is "Create Undo" I have been searching the web trying to understand how to select RMS vs Peak for normalization, and all I can deduce is that something is missing from my application. Or perhaps a setting needs to be set. Or SOMETHING!!? If anyone can help me, OH PLEASE HELP! What is going on?!?!?! THANKS! Bonnie |

I know the answer! It's because I have "XP" That doesn't include RMS Normalization. Geez... |
