Hey Gang: I’m a newbie here (my first post). Great site, thanks to Sonic Foundry for allowing the web space for sharing ideas. I’m using SoundForge 5.0 in Win98-SE. My sound card is the Echo Mia. Here’s my problem… My SoundForge internal keyboard (View-Keyboard) doesn’t work. It does open, but when clicking on any of the keys there’s no audio. The ON/OFF button remains in the OFF mode. And, when I click on the MIDI button nothing happens. It would appear I need to install a midi driver or something. Under Multimedia in Control Panel my computer indicates that I have a midi installed, but the comments says… “it’s not working for an unknown reason.” I’ve tried re-installing the soundcard drivers and even checked to see if the Windows drivers needed re-installing and nothing seems to help. Should I delete the midi device driver in the System Folder and try re-installing? Any ideas or assistance would truly be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Joe |

Hey Joe....where you going with that gu.......sorry, If the Echo Mia is the only soundcard on your box then sorry your out or luck when it comes to MIDI. A synth is required to play MIDI and the Echo Mia does not have one. If you have another card (i.e. Soundblaster or other consumer grade card) you can change to it in control panel > multimedia, then your MIDI keyboard will work. MJ |
