I'm interested in opinions on what software plug-in is the best for adding delay or reverb to vocals? I'm currently using what comes with Sound Forge 5.0 and nTrack studio but I can't seem to get that nice delay affect used on quality recordings such as Paul Simon, Shawn Colvin, etc. I haven't used the Acoustic Mirror yet because it's not dynamic but I'm open to that if people have had any experience with it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Mike |

There's a plug-in out there that simulates the old tape echo devices ie; reel-reel, echoplex, space-echo, multivox ect. I can't remember who makes it. ????. I think they call it Echofarm? The AC mirror is great, but you have to tweak it... as with just about any device. Anwida makes a real nice sounding reverb. The lite version is a free download. If you got the money check out the Lexicons. |

>>If you got the money check out the Lexicons.<< Yep. Chances are pretty good that the best mixes you've heard have one of these employed in 'em. The BEST reverb units are just that - UNITS - not plug-ins. I have yet to find a plug that sounds anywhere near as good as an outboard unit. As far as plugs go, Sonic TimeWorks makes a pretty decent one. Give their demo a try. From what I remember, it's pretty much of a CPU hog though. JL OTR |

I hear you onthe outboard units but that would mean finding a unit that takes a digital input/output & feeds it back to my software. Does Lexicon offer such a unit? I surely do not want to go back to analog just to add reverb. Lexicon makes a unit called Lexiverb but it's licensed & sold only by Digidesign for use in their ProTools package. It lists for $795. Any one used this? Mike |

Why don't you what I do and spend the time to learn Acoustic Mirror. This would be your cheapest option. Search the net and locate the various impulses available and create your own presets. Then, depending on your sequencer, print the *reveb tail only* to seperate tracks. Mix and match reverb tail to it's track. Hence you are not using up CPU reserves too. AM is a fabulous tool and you would have to spend a lot to get what you have for nought in SF. My rave for the day Cheers Siabadar |

So you think it's possible to find impulses that will give the quality of Lexicon gear? Mike |

The Lexicon unit is simply a digital signal processor. There's no reason why it's effect couldn't be duplicated in another software system. |
