I record classical music which can last 30mins or more in one go and need to insert track numbers for movements before recording onto CD, Does anyone know how to do this? Geoff

Direct CD may not correctly create a Disc At Once (DAO) disc. If you're using the full version of Sound Forge 5: - Place a marker (press the M key) at each place you want a new track to start. You can move them around afterwards if you need to - Also place markers at the beginning and end of the file - From the Special menu, choose Regions List / Markers to Regions - From the Tools menu, choose extract regions You will now have a group of .wav files on your drive, one for each track, and they will be named so that they are in the correct order if you sort by name. Add these files to Easy CD Creator and burn in Disk At Once (DAO) mode. If you're using Sound Forge XP: - Place all the markers as above. - One at a time, double-click between each pair of markers, Ctrl-C to copy that section, Ctrl-E to paste to a new file - Save this new file - Repeat for each track section - Burn these files in DAO mode.

Just as an overview - to have separate track numbers for each movement you need to have separate .wav files (and tracks) for each movement. Then when you burn your CD you do it in DISK AT ONCE mode which eliminates the 2 second gap between tracks. This should give you the result you want, continous music for 30 minutes, but you can skip around to the different sections of a piece by selecting track numbers.

CD Architect(discontinued) 3. Wavelab 4. Nero 5. Cdrwin I actually have a big grin on my face right now, because I just visited the Digidesign website to see how Protools is allowing users to assemble their CD tracks together. They're still using the archaic "Masterlist" CD in Protools LE. This interface hasn't changed in 6 years since the last time I did a mastering session on Protools. It sucked back then, so it must really suck now using it compared to other CD authoring programs available. Not having DAO in sound forge is probably less painfull than using "Masterlist" with DAO.
