Subject:Looking for a program like the old CD Architect

CD Architect (Sound Forge 4.5) was so nice when it came to splitting up tracks... All I had to do was press "T" and the track would be split and labeled. Will Sonic Foundry release it ever again. If not, is there anything that compares to it. I have used Vegas Video to do this, and it works "OK". It seems better than all the other products I've tried since Architect like Sound Forge (with out CD Architect), Batch Convertor, Vegas Audio (go figure)...Any programs not associated with Sonic Foundry I can try? (Remember, I've tried some really good products so I might not be satisfied with a cheap imitation.)

Just keep on using CD-Arch. It's the best cd mastering program available today

don't use vv 3 for splitting up tracks - it's not accurate - you will notice it.

like, um, clicks between the tracks

Just posted this for another similar post. I haven't had the clicks and pops that you described using Vegas. This might be hardware related (ie your CD burner). Have you tried rendering the project first and then burning to CD or burning at a slower rate? Could be your system is not quick enough running Vegas and burning directly to CDR.

Here's my list of DAO, CD mastering software for assembling tracks in the order I would rate them.

1. Vegas Video
2. CD Architect(discontinued)
3. Wavelab
4. Nero
5. Cdrwin

I actually have a big grin on my face right now, because I just visited the Digidesign website to see how Protools is allowing users to assemble their CD tracks together. They're still using the archaic "Masterlist" CD in Protools LE. This interface hasn't changed in 6 years since the last time I did a mastering session on Protools. It sucked back then, so it must really suck now using it compared to other CD authoring programs available. Not having DAO in sound forge is probably less painfull than using "Masterlist" with DAO.

If you have a high speed connection download the demo version of cool edit pro 2.0. If works very well for me. I assemble the tracks in the multitrack window put my crossfades in, then I put my track markers in and burn. It has it's own interface and it works real well for me.

Everyone would be happy if Sonic Foundry would allow that feature in Vegas Audio 3 LE !!!! I don't see the point of this stupid track at one !
