We are upgrading a Dell workstation to burn CD's. We would like to have something that will make Red Book, Data, and all Sound Forge 5.0/6.0 file types. It would be internal if possible, and hopefully a CD-RW. Is there a problem with any new media/storage size? I have been told that it should be MMC compatible?? P.S. we will be adding MOTU 2408 mkII and MOTU 308 audio interfaces also. Thanks, LC |

You are out of luck if you are looking to Sound Forge to make red-book CDs! All they offer is track-at-once recording which is NOT red-book standard. You will have to invest in another program like Nero to do this. But, consider this, Cool Edit Pro 2.0 has red-book standard CD burning as a free option! |

Beetlefan is correct, your SOL. And that is why many I talk to are abandaning SF in favor of Cool Edit, Wavelab or other apps that support Redbook burning. Vegas Video 3 can burn in DAO mode. (I think) Why they put it in Vegas is beyond me. |

I think they put it in Vegas Video to create a big, all-in-one package. That means you have to spend some serious $$$ just to burn red-book CD with Sonic Foundry. The fact that Syntrillium can offer a sound editor and multitrack on par with any others, AND red-book CD burning, says to me that SF can do the same for a low price. They just choose not to. Shareholders? Percieved image? |

Yeah they could add that feature in Vegas 3.0 LE so everyone would be happy. |

The Vegas editing interface is quite similar to the CD Architect interface, as those who have used both products know. It's a natural tie-in from that standpoint. But I still wish for CDA like the rest of us. I find making CDs with Vegas more complex - even down to having to manually add the required 2 seconds of silence at the beginning (Come on guys, it's required. Couldn't you make it automatic or a checkbox in preferences?) |

It does automatically insert the 2 seconds of silence, I have not had a problem with this. |
