The Loop Tuner is probably so necessary to those creating loops in Sound Forge that nobody should be creating loops without it. But first you have to define loop points by using Special>Edit Sample or Special>Create Sample Loop with a range of data already selected. Once points are defined, you then access the Tuner by using CTRL+L on your keyboard. From there, you can twiddle around with it. The Loop Tuner will help you find zero crossings at the end and beginning of the loop so that the loop doesn't make an annoying click when it loops over again. (I should note the Loop Tuner is only available in Sound Forge 5 and not Sound Forge XP Studio 5.) HTH, Iacobus |

To add to mD's reply, after you enable looping in the edit sample dialog and OK it you will see small loop markers directly above the waveform display. In the loop tuner (Control-L) you can drag these markers to define or redefine your loop. Then use the buttons at the bottom of the window to automatically find zero crossings and audition the loop. Loops can be tricky. If the loop is too short it will sound very unnatural. If you are pleased with a loop but can't quite get the loop point totally silent the Tools/Crossfade Loop function can be extremely helpful. Finally, when you select your loop points you are most likely to have a successful loop if the amplitude of the waveform is the same (or very close) at the beginning and end of the loop. The help topic on looping explains these things fairly well. |
