I'm trying to learn to prepare archived audio files for web streaming. I am following the instruction layed out in the book, "Sound Forge Power". I placed a screnn shot of Sound Forge with steps taken on the web at the address below.

I'm trying to follow the directions (page 249) in the book, "SOUND FORGE POWER", for preparing audio for the web for streaming. I know nothing about SF, with the exception of reading the book mentioned.

These are the steps I've done with this file.

• opened a copy of the original that was extracted form CD

• removed DC Offset according to instructions on page 250.

• Process>Channel Converter>Mono in order to convert from stereo to mono (this was not stated in the book, but I knew that mono would greatly reduce the file size so I converted. Is there anything wrong with that?

• The screen shot show where I'm at now. According to page 250 I'm adjusting the Paragraphic EQ All setting are set according to the book; at least I think so…

The problem I'm having is the file is clipping very badly as the red in the screen shot reveals. I've played with the adjustments but have had no success in reducing the clipping.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Did your original stereo file clip like that? Or did that only happen after you converted to mono?

I went back and re-set the setting according to the book and it sounded much better. I'm still in the process of trying to wrap my brain around the software. I have no experience with this and the book "sound Forge Power" is not making sense to me yet. Can you suggest anyother sources for information in regards to this.

This is what I want to do.
Take an audio CD, make it sound good, reduce its file size so that it will stream efficiently over the web.

Any help greatly appreciated
