Why does Sonic Foundry wanna charge $399 for Acid Pro 3 when you can EASILY go to bestbuy.com or audiomidi.com and get it for $199!!

Come on SoFo!! Be competative!! Do you not have any faith in your own software??

Um Sin, you're not encountering something unusual. It's called the MSRP, or Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price, and it will always be more expensive that consumer outlets. That’s how resellers stay in business. If SoFo undersold their resellers, they’d risk putting themselves out of business (the reasoning behind this is interesting, but I’m not going to give a lecture on it). It doesn't matter what you’re buying, be it software, furniture, or clothing... Buying from the manufacturer is almost always the most expensive route. That's why savvy shoppers know how to look around for deals off the shelf, rebates, coupons, and discounts.

Additionally, SoFo can't be "competitive" with resellers. BestBuy and AudioMidi have already bought their stock from SoFo. There's no point in trying to compete with someone that's already given them money. You see my point?

IMHO... If your stupid enough to buy it for 399 when you can go to a store and get it for 199.... well.. I have a 1972 Gremlin I'd LOVE to sell ya. I'll let it go for the MSRP of $14,999.99
