Subject:HELP... trouble recording voice into a song.

I've written two songs and want to put vocals into them. When I try to record my vocals, the program makes another track for them as it should. The problem is, is that when I play it back, the vocals dont "line up" with the song. It stutters and pauses. I am not clipping when I sing. The volumn is OK too. Any ideas? I've read thru the manual and don't see anyhting about this.

How many tracks do you have in your song? If you have more than a few, ACID may be bogging down the CPU too much to allow proper sync when recording. Bounce all your tracks to one new track, solo the new track, and then listen to just that one track while recording the vocals. You may then delete that new track when you're done.

Still having a problem. I followed what you said and what the manual says but when I bounce all the tracks into one track, there is nothing there. This is what I do....
1. Select SOLO on each track
2. Select "RENDER TO NEW TRACK" in the menu
3. Set the directory and such.
4. Click SAVE and the render process begins, (Status Bar)
5. A new track with the same name appears at the bottom.
6. I Mute all the other tracks and select SOLO on the new track.
I hit play and hear no sound. Also there appears to be no data in the new track.
What am I doing wrong? I have saved this file as a ACD-ZIP file.

Certainly sounds like you're doing it right. Have you tried saving the project as a plain-vanilla ACD file?

I tried to do it on a regular .ACD file also. Loop region is unchecked. I didn't have the preview fader to 0.0 What effect does this have on it?

One more question... When I bounce all the tracks to a new track and mute all the other tracks, then select solo on the new track, should I be able to hear all my original tracks music on that one new track. (I'm so confused hehe)

I can see that there is no data being copied into the new track on the track bar. It's blank

OK... I got it to record and I bounced all the tracks to one. My problem is that the vocals are still "misplaced" Is this common or should Acid be able to place the where I want?
I moved the first verse into the right spot but then all the other lyrics are still misplaced. It is also doubling up some of the lyrics. You hear the same words twice. It'd really weird.

I did not have any vocals on the bounced track. All I had done was recorded loops for the song, bounced all those together and then while that one track with all the music was playing, tried to record vocals. I only have the one track playing and the vocals still don't line up with the background music.

Again... there were no vocals in the bounced together tracks. I wanted to bounce all the music loops together, thinking that THAT may have been my problem. ie: too many system resources being used.

When you go to record vocals, there's an option to place the recording in your project where you want it to be (in measures:beats:ticks format). Did you try that?

Also try unchecking the "Make new track follow project tempo (Beatmapped track)" option underneath. This option, when checked, will timestretch your recorded take to follow the project's tempo. Unchecking the option will make the take a One-shot (which is not timestretched).

HEHE I do too Groovewerx. One thought is that I am using onbourd sound with my Asus A7A266 motherboard. It has the C-Media chipset. Would that be a problem?

I am doing everything by the book as far as bouncing all the tracks together, then muting all the tracks. I then selct SOLO on the new track that has all the loops. I then hit record and lay down another track for vocals. When I try to play it back, the vocals are all jumbled up and misplaced.

Iacobus,
you wrote:

I can't find that option. Where can i access it?

I had the option checked that says MAKE NEW TRACK FOLLOW PROJECT TEMPO. I will uncheck it and try.

Thx

Turnip - Try switching between beatmapped, one shot and loop and see what happens? I've had that problem before, too, and I just hadn't watched those settings... Basic, but tricky.

Anybody know why I get a "tinny" almost digital feedback sound when I render vocal tracks that have NO effects on them to a new track? It's driving me batty.

The Record from dialog can be found in the middle of the record window. You have two choices: Start of project and Position. The second option lets you start recording from a specified point in the project.
