When will Magix debut their version of Acid?

Things look a little grim on that front; Peter confirmed he didn't go to Magix. The only thing I've heard thus far is that there will be another Vegas.

When a company buys another company's software line, it's not guaranteed that they'll continue with certain apps.

"Sony Creative Software products like Sound Forge, SpectraLayers and ACID Pro are a great enrichment for our audio sector. It is our desire to take user wishes into consideration through an intensive dialog and implement suggestions for improvement in order to present the best possible version of the software."

...sounds hopeful. Fingers crossed..

Been saying this since the announcement was made public. It's clear that Magix interest lies squarely with Vegas. And ONLY Vegas at this point.

That people suddenly assume that Magix will be reach into the ancient 6 year code of Acid Pro to put a new version on deck is really putting the cart before the horse.

That said - I can see them continuing with Music Studio. At least it's reasonably current.

Seen it over and over, too. (e.g., Corel bought the software line from Ulead and practically killed off their entire software line. And, of course, the most famous for doing this kind of thing: Google, when they bought the Nik Collection. Google probably wanted the tech behind Nik but not Nik itself for its own image editing purposes. I'm guessing Magix is interested in ACID's tech and not much more.)

A thought occurred to me yesterday regarding the uncertainties of ACID. If they're not going to continue it, I hope they'll at least make some sort of converter that will convert '.acd' files to whatever Samplitude uses.

Well, You may well be right, but I have a gut feeling that we'll actually get some updated version of Acid before they attempt total assimilation.
Besides, hope is free and nothing is lost if Magix goes this way or that.

If they're not going to continue it I just hope they will come out and say it. Not like the years of Sony insisting Acid Pro 'had a future' when it was obvious to everyone it did not.
