Wanted to drop a note to the forum users that I am no longer a part of SCS.

It was just over 19 years ago that I started for Sonic Foundry. Along the way we created some great products. I met a lot of loyal and passionate users here. I always enjoyed being part of the discussion, debate, and hope I helped.

The users was why I did this. These forums were always important to me.

Thanks for all of the passion.

First of all, where are you going? Will you be involved in other audio development? Give us a hint so we can follow you there. Second, you've been a tremendous help to users over the years. You are greatly appreciated. I hope you ended your SCS career amicably. You're the man!

Awww. :(

I know I haven't been very active here but, trust me, I've been very active otherwise. Sorry to see you leave. It'll feel like there's this gaping hole now without you. You've been so instrumental in apps like ACID.

Has it really been that long? Hang on, I think I picked up ACID Pro 2 in...2000? 2001? I can't remember exactly...wow. It has been that long.

Peter...

That's not good news. But, I wish you well. Thanks for the help you've provided over the years.

I hope this is not the beginning of the end for the product.

+1

Peter was the heart and soul of SCS audio software. This is a sad day indeed. :(

> "I hope this is not the beginning of the end for the product."

No, that was Jan 6, 2011 which has the last time ACID Pro 7 was updated. We are long past the beginning of the end. I haven't used ACID in years and just check back here to see if there are any questions I can help with from time to time. I moved on to SONAR for the PC and then Logic Pro X when I switched to Mac a few years back. ACID was great in it's day though (sigh).

It's STILL great, Rofrano! :-) We still use it and we still make money with it. It's our front end and it still drives over $70K worth of studio hardware. We will be fanboys 'til the End. And we still want to know where Peter is going so we can harass him further. Johnny, thank you also for the help you've given us over the years. Best to you!

Yes it is if it still does what you need. If, however, you need to use 64-bit plug-ins or samplers with large libraries that need more memory than the 2GB (32-bit) memory limit can accommodate, or Celemony Melodyne (which doesn't work with ACID), then it's not so good. :(

It certainly is still the best loop composition experience bar none.

Thanks Peter for all your help. Good luck in your future endeavours.

I always pictured you as the lone Sony soldier willing to peek over the trench tops to face us frustrated AP users. And you did a great job.

Peter,

You've created a wonderful tool for musicians worldwide, and you changed the face of music production as we know it for ever. Without you, nothing would be the same in this industry.

I've literally grew up with your softwares, and you'll forever be a teacher, a genius, and a great coder... No not coder, a poet!

@ Peter Haller. Principal .... Software QA Engineer at MAGIX Software

That's great news, Geoff! Glad they took him on. Maybe he can convince Magix to update Acid and make it part of their regular lineup.
