OT: Making and sharing VR 360 degrees videos?

Hey guys,

I want to make VR, 360 degrees movies and stills, and also make it usable with those carboard like VR glasses where you put your phone into.

So I am looking for a basic affordable system.

What I still need is:
- An affordable 360 degrees camera (video and still support)
- Software that stitch and make it viewable with an android phone.

The cardboard like affordable VR glasses are available via online stores.

But it is not clear for me how one gets that 360 degrees video into an android phone? Through some app? The gyro sensors in the phone must be able to control the scene etc.

Like the stereoscopic option, if a new Vegas would come out then it would probably get this function.
VR and 360 degrees is supposed to be the 'next big thing'.

I have seen that Gopro are doing stuff, but its quite pricey: http://www.360heros.com

Anyway some clients are asking me about this and I would like to be able to get into this.
Any advice is welcome thanks.

I have Kodak SP360 cameras that can create 360 view videos...but the quality is poor. They say they are working on stitching software, but can't commit to a schedule.

There are several wide angle cameras systems being developed and/or on the market now---the 360 fly, Lucid Cam ( a 3D pair of wide angle lenses), and the Luna (about to launch on Indigogo tomorrow).

I've already put some money down for the Lucid and will probably try to get a Luna too.

I can't help you with the android question. I have posted 360 view videos to youtube and facebook, just to try it out, though.

Thanks for the feedback 3d87c4.

What about the Ricoh Theta S?

This looks interesting aswell: https://icrealtech.com/

It even broadcasts 360 live feed, so you could look around with VR glasses in real time :-)

Google also has an option to upload your own videos as streetview.

I read that Zeiss has VR glasses too: http://www.zeiss.com/corporate/en_de/zeiss-vr-one.html
