Subject:Acid Pro 7 with East West Play updates?

Just got Acid Pro 7. I have a project coming up that requires Middle eastern sounds. The on-line demos of East west Silk, Gypsy and RA are pretty stunning (for these I'd have to update my computer). However, when I do a search, LOTs of complains come up regarding the combination of Acid and East West's Play. All of these comments are quite old though (most recent in 2011). When I contacted EW they said that it works great, that "play" has changed a lot since then. Are there any users out there of the newer Play that can confirm that the 2 products play nice together?
On a related note, would the Garritan World instruments suffice (soundwise...haven't hear that glowing of reviews), and does it work better with Play?
I also like Best Services Desert Winds and Epic World (smaller size which may not create havoc on my old computer).
Any other suggestions for plug ins?

thanks

I wasn't going to reply because I have no direct knowledge of this plug-in but their web site seems to indicate that it still supports 32-bit and so it "should" work. I know you were looking for someone who has used it to give you a definitive answer but I would think that most people investing in a sample player plug-in like that would be using a 64-bit host for the additional memory and not 32-bit ACID Pro.

The Garritan samples are very good. I haven't used Garritan World but I have used their orchestra samples with ACID Pro and they are good quality.

I know what you mean about most people using EW products would be using a 64 bit host.....but for now I just have Acid Pro 7. EW tells me that their product will work in Acid, but based on the on-line comments about EW, I'm hesitant to spend that much for a product that "might" work, especially since I wouldn't be able to return it. Hence I'd like to hear from anyone that actually uses it in Acid.

I use Play from East West, and tried to run it on AP7 by converting it to 32 bit using Jbridge.
In short: Acid Pro 7 crashes when it hits the 2 GB memory limit, due to it being a 32 bit host.
So running it on Sonar X3 producer now.

What EW library were you trying to use on AP7?
When I asked EW if some of their specific libraries will work on AP7, this is what they said (first statement in quotes was my question):

"From what I've read, because Acid Pro is a 32 bit application it can only access 4 GB of memory".
Yes that is true however Silk and Gypsy are not like our big orchestra libraries, it will run OK if you have a Quad processor or better and make sure you run it from an internal drive.
Acid is a standard VST plugin app so shouldn't be any problems. IF it does not work we will work out something but I'm sure it will.

.....I still would like to hear if anyone out there tried either of these libraries on AD7.

Also, another option would be to go with some of Best Service products (Epic World and Desert Winds). Does anyone have any experience using these (Best Service Engine) products in AP7?
thanks

Ah maybe they would work.

I have the current 64 bit VST instruments, like Hollywood Orchestra, Horns, Choir etc.

32 bit versions should work fine.
The old 32 bit Symphonic Orchestra works fine on AP7
