Subject:ACID 10 Recording and Drums

Hey all from Boulder Co..my fb/mosquitodrones, and links to my dreampop edm on YT.
Just got ACID 10, somewhat familiar with Vegas, so screen is similar. Have a few start up questions -- feel free to email me direct -- psychcowboy@yahoo.

1. I put USB from TC Helicon VoiceLive [i assume like any audio interface] and didn't see any signal coming in??
2. Since that didn't work just went headphone out to mic in on laptop, and saw a signal but heard nothing??
3. Does ACID 10 come with any drum loops in explorer window, or do you have to buy one of the $30-40 packages.
Thx for now, all info appreciated. PS: I am using my new Novation Mininova, TC Helicon voicelive play, and Korg electribe 2 -- all amazing and I am glad to give some tips on those.

@psychocowboy

1. I am not familiar with the VoiceLive. If it is an audio input/out device, you would have to select it as your device in ACID or set it as your Windows default audio input and output device

2. To monitor in software, you have to use ASIO drivers for your audio device. You select the ASIO supported device in the Audio Device tab of the ACID preference. Once selected, you can then enable input monitoring. I do not know if the VoiceLive Play has ASIO drivers. If not, then you can try using ASIO4All drivers.

3. ACID comes with more than 3,000 loops. There is a folder "Loops/Drums" that should contain many.

Yes. And are you using an ASIO driver and have Input Monitoring enabled on the track , as SonyPCH suggested ?

Um, it isn't a properly 'marked up' link (as in click and go), but you can COPY and paste it - I just did.

Try Options|Preferences|Audio (device), drop down the list and hopefully you will see something like "TC Helicon ASIO" as an option. Use that and input monitoring should become active.

You cannot use IM with device set as MS Sound Mapper, or TC Classic Windows Driver (or something similar).

Geoff, i will try that. Today i simply armed tracks and snapped my fingers so my laptop mic inout to the audio levels....still could hear nothing in headphones! So not sure it is related to helicon. Ps..what is IM? Thx.

Did you install/copy the loops that came with AMS to your system?

They would be located where you installed/copied them.

Regarding the audio.

I would suggest you read the manual and documentation available.

A lot to learn here.

ASIO: Is a driver architecture for audio cards and devices.

You will have to read your users manual and contact the vendor of your device to find out if it has ASIO drivers or not.

I downloaded asio driver, chose it under audio preferences, still no audio output. I can hear the metronome and any inserted loops, but nothing from the armed tracks.
