Dynamic RAM Preview greyed out

I just installed 64 bit VMS 13 PE on my desktop PC 8GB RAM, fast prcessor, Windows 7 64 bit. Same product on my win7 laptop I am able to create a dynamic RAM Preview. On the desktop, the option to BUILD DYNAMIC RAM PREVIEW is greyed out and not available. As with my laptop, the preview playback is terribly choppy when reivewing footage shot at 1080 60p on both my Lumix LX7 and my GoPro Hero 4 Black. Dyanmic RAM preview is my only chance to be able to preview and edit the video and it's not available.
How can I get the option to show up?

Just to add...this is with a single 5 second clip in the timeline, no FX applied.

You need to mark the region of your video to be prepared in dynamic RAM for preview. Once you've indicated a region, the Build Dynamic RAM Preview menu item will be available.

Best of luck with your project.

Does it have to be a Region? In my experience a simple selection ijnh the Timeline will work.

Remember that if you have set your Dynamic RAM to 0 then this tip won't work

set in:

> "Preferences"
> "Video"
> "Dynamic RAM Previewmax (MB)")
