choppy preview

I just upgraded to VMS PE 13 6- bit from version 12. I cannot preview 1080 60p video shot with my GoPro Hero 4 Black. It is choppy or just shows a still image when being previewed in the preview window.

I can drag the footage into the timeline and perform a RAM Preview and then see everything fine, but just trying to preview, even at the lowest res settings in the preview window is not possible. I can even render the video out @ 1080 60p and then reopen VMS and see the rendered video fine in the preview window. This is at the same res as the RAW video but only the rendered video will play smoothly in the preview window. It's just the RAW video from the GoPro that I can't see in the preview window.

Just FYI...the same thing happens with my Lumix LX7 RAW video shot at 1080 60p. The project is set to 1080 60p to match the footage. I can't see the preview but I can see the RAM preview and also see the rendered video when viewed after rendering in the preview window.

BTW...If I take the same GoPro footage that is causing problems in VMS and open it in GoPro Studio, it plays fine when previewing. The problem seems limited to the preview window in VMS on RAW video. The GoPro shoots RAW mp4 and the Lumix shoots RAW .mts files

System specs...i7 quad core processor, 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 64 bit Home, Open GL 2.2 Intel video card with 1GB video RAM. SHould be more than enough to handle a preview of these clips!

I have to vent a little here, too. I have been a user of SONY software since Acid 2.0 I have never seen a company where you buy a product and the next day you have to purchase a support plan to speak to someone about getting it working properly out of the box. Pretty cheesy...

Here are some search phrases for you on these Sony forums.

Match media settings

Optimize preview

GoPro Studio

-- That being said, your system specs are near the low end for 1080p 60 preview consistency. Converting to Cineform in GoPro Studio first is the most bulletproof method. The GoPro Studio preview is optimized for guess what? -- GoPro footage!

-- This gets asked so often that repeating the information every time someone asks is completely useless.

Have exactly the same problem, GoPro 1080p60 footage plays perfectly in media player, any other players on the system with barely 20% CPU utilisation in my case, in SMvS13 it stays at 30% during preview so performance is not a problem. Also Cyberlink Power Director works pretty well out of the box without any fiddling....

And BTW I have way less performant PC then original post author, so I believe this is bug in MovieStudio.
Do you know where can I open a bug report?
