HI, I am very computer savvy, and have been using Acid pro since 2001
I purchased an upgrade to AcidPro7.
I installed the program and ran it as the administrator.
Registered my product, and used it fine for a week.
I installed the Autotune VST Plugin on my pc.
**Then I opened the 'Manage Plugins Tab, Clicked the Search for plugins button and it started to search.
After a min. or so, An error window popped up and said the prog. has stopped working.
I tried to Restart the program and I can see the load bar move to about 20%. It then freezes and the window pops up again saying Acid Pro 7 has stopped working. (I see the splash screen load up to the vst plugin point)
Then the program shuts off.
I followed the suggestions on the following support link to the "T" :

https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1382/kw/When%20I%20try%20to%20open%20my%20program%20the%20splash%20screen%20comes%20up.

I would think deleting the reg and a complete New Install would work, but it didn't.
Any Ideas??
Thanks

Well it sounds like Autotune is upsetting the Acid start-up.

Suggest first uninstall Autotune ( or temporarily move it's folder).

Then if you start up with <CTRL> and <Shift> keys held , that will reset your Acid to default settings and a fresh plugin scan (sans AT). You will lose any custom settings you have made, but will isolate the hang to (presumably) Autotune.

Then try installing AT again. If same problem , maybe Antares can offer advice, if SCS can't.

Hello DMAX.......I am not certain about this, but it sounds like when you did a search in the Plug in manager, it may have tried to now search your entire Drive for plug-Ins (.dll files). If that is the case, it will lock up on Start Up, because it is trying to load all sorts of non musical .dll files as well. And, deleting Acid Pro and re-installing will not fix this either. So.......you could do the following instructions to fix this:

1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View, and place a check in the box for "show hidden files and folders". Click apply and Ok.

2. Locate this folder on your system:

Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0

Windows Vista, 7 - C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0

Note: To browse to this directory, you will need to have 'Show hidden files and folders' turned on.

3. Delete the file named: acidpro.plugincache.xml located here.

Warning: You will lose all configuration and organization work you have done previously regarding plug-ins.

You will not lose your Projects . No worries there. And since it sounds like you just loaded version 7, you have nothing to lose so to speak.

You can always go back in and redo the configuration and re-organize plug ins for previous work. This did work for me for similar problem. I hope it helps you out as well.

If you get to that sub folder and do NOT see the 'acidpro.plugincache.xml' file, then most likely that is not your problem, but overall I think this will solve it for you.
