Subject:Advice to make Acid more stable

So I'm using a clean install of Win 7 x64 with all new hardware. Pretty smokin system, specs are in my profile. The problem is that Acid 7e Pro chugs, yields scratchy noises and buzzes when I simply move the mouse cursor across splits in audio clips. These are quite small projects, 5 tracks consisting of maybe 10 clips each. Total song length is only 2 minutes. One of those tracks is a midi kit core track. I've tried changing my audio interface from my presonus FP10, to a focusrite scarlet 2i4 and there's no change. And I find that I have to save every couple of minutes because it will crash at various random times.

I'm curious if others find the same erratic behavior. If so how do you mitigate for it? System configuration settings? One user suggested that a video driver issue could be effecting it. I'm going to look into that.

Very much appreciate any feedback.

Hi, these are some things you could try:

1. Make sure you have latest soundcard driver and are using ASIO in Acid; increasing the buffer size to 1024 samples may help
2. Disable WinXP theme support in Acid options (helped a lot for stability in Win 8 on my system, but still was not perfect)
3. Disable Media Manager and Net notify in Acid options
4. Use LatencyMon to check for any issues and disable any devices/update drivers for anything with high DPC execution time
5. Dual boot XP 32 bit as last resort (worked well for me)

Also a unique TEMP file location for Acid, with nothing left over in it from a previous install.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll post back soon with the results.

Would anybody be willing to try the ACID project on their system to see if the same behavior is experienced? I can save it with all the media and place in my OneDrive cloud storage.
