Does Vegas Audio support VST plug-ins or just Direct X? I ask because I would like to use SAMPLE TANK with my Vegas Audio/ Acid / Sound Forge setup.

Thanks in advance!

Vegas Audio only supports DirectX plugins.

HollowPoint,

In an indirect way, Sound Forge, Acid, and Vegas can support VST plugins with the assistance of a "wrapper". It translates the VST ins/outs to the DirectX language, allowing them to be used in any DX compatible app. Spin Audio has a free version on their page for downloading:

http://www.spinaudio.com/downloads_free.html

More info is provided there. Keep in mind it only works for VST FX, not instruments. Other than that, it works beautifully.

Hope this helps,

So the WRAPPERS will only work on effects? Like EQ, FLANGE, etc.? They will not work on HALION or other SoftSynths?
I would like to use a SoftSynth to record a synthesizer track. You are saying this will not work, correct?

Thanks in advance!

Angus Hewlett's VST-DX Adapter will do VSTi. Get it from http://www.fxpansion.com .

Jackson,

Even though the adapter is capable of translating VSTi to DXi, it's still usless in Sonic Foundry applications because they support neither DXi, nor DX envelope automation. Kinda like putting an 8mm cassette in a VHS adapter and expecting it to play in a DVD player. Just doesn't work.
