Partner Product: HitFilm Plugins -- Worth It?

I have VP13Suite, so I have HitFilm Ultimate 2 as part of that package, and the 7 plugins from the 130 plugins that make up HitFilm's bundle.

When it comes to color matching and correcting for multi-camera shoots, I have relied primarily on Sony's built-in White Balance, and NewBlueFX color tools for such touch-up operations. I've not used alot of special effects, but intend to do more creative shooting that could benefit from some of that.

I am seeking the opinions of VP users who have those Sony Partner Products from HitFilm and NewBlueFX: are the HitFilm Plugins worth three hundred dollars to you? I'm seriously considering the purchase through Sony.

Somebody said recently that the Shadow/Highlight plugin is very good. I have yet to try it, but if it is, I may buy the set just for it, and hope that some other plugins will also be useful, to help justify the cost. We have until the end of the month to decide before the special price ends.

The Shadow/Highlight effect in NewBlue VE2 is pathetic.

If you already have HitFilm Ultimate 2, I'm not sure why you would want to spend any more on a collection of plugins that are a subset of what you already own. Yes, it is more convenient to invoke the effects directly from Vegas rather than through the HitFilm interface, but is that really worth an extra $300? Frankly, if you are really keen on going the plugin effects route, I would save up and spend $600 on BCC 9, which is of significantly higher quality in my opinion than ether HitFilm or NewBlue.

I use BCC effects so much more than I ever thought I would.

Well I tried Hitfilm Shadow/Highlight and decided that it was not worth paying a premium price for. See

I just use the Color Curve editor/effect rather than Shadow/Highlight effect because I can immediately see from the shape of the curve exactly what it is doing.

It is good to know what is going on, but the better shadow/highlight adjusters do more that a "simple" remapping of levels.
