Subject:SpectraLayers Competitors?

Is there a true SpectraLayers competitor out there? This software does what I need in my application unbelievably well so I have no complaints about the purchase or upgrade pricing, although the interface itself has been a struggle to fully grasp.

I had the privilege of participating in a Sony Classical recording session late last year. I talked with the German engineering team about the spectral editor that I saw them using: reNOVAtor from Algorithmix. Anybody familiar with it? I didn't get to do anything but watch, but it appeared similar to SpectraLayers in many ways. Graphically, it's more dramatic, but my reason for mentioning it is its price: over $3,400.00 US. That gave me a new level of appreciation for SpectraLayers! In fact, there was nothing they showed me at the session that SL can't do. I wrote to Algorithmix for information a few months ago and never got a reply. Has anyone here used reNOVAtor?

reNOVAtor and iZotope RX3 I think are the main competitors.

Although I Beta Tested for the original Algorithmix reNOVAtor and an integrated DSP plugin for my DAW, they never came up with a 'discount' for the 'privilege' ha! I thought it was very good, but not $3,400.00 US good at the time...

My main 'goto' apps are RX3 and SL; - RX3 is quick and easy to use for small spot blemishes, SL solves the problems RX3 can't, but is quite fiddly for a 'quick fix' .....

Yep, "fiddly" describes it well! Since SL does what I need I'm not salivating over reNOVAtor at its luxury price. I would have thought that SL might exert some downward price pressure on them, but not yet, apparently...
