Movie Studio 13 and New Blue Titler

BuddyB wrote on 5/24/2014, 3:29 PM
Is there anyone at all running, MS13 with Blue Titler succesfully? I took and set up from the disc that came with Studio. That was a disaster, had to wind up uninstalling and re-installing; finally getting Studio to function. Titler botched left and right, things didn't show and it was a mess. I finally, after several days, uninstalled it, but it left ghosts I had to hunt down and get rid up before things would do right in MS. They do have, maybe, the best customer service I have seen anywhere, and especially the gent named Edward. He tried and tried, I followed the instructions as I saw them to no avail. I hope, one day, that it will work as I percieve the power and possibilities. The group I hang with at Muvipix have also had issues similar. I really want it to work.

On both of my computers, I had to remove the NewBlue Titler in order to install Movie Studio 13.

BuddyB is referring here to the NBFX Titler version (MSPPS13) bundled with MS Suite 13.

Luck for you Ed from Newblue actually visits this forum too. :) So does Steve from Muvipix.

They both know their stuff. Hope you get it fixed soon!

I had to upgrade my video card for it to work. Went from a AMD 5550 to a 7750 and it works well now. total system: Amd 6 core, 16 gigs of ram, and the 7750.

Buddy, yes TitlerEx will work in Movie Studio 13. If you are having an issue, please contact support at newblueinc.com and I'll help you figure out why your computer is having an issue.

Jet to the rescue (as always!)

BuddyB, yes please give NB/Edward another chance. Hopefully your problem will get solved the second time around.
I got TitlerEx initially to work with MSP(S) 13, but as I had TitlerPro 1 installed, ultimately Ex and Pro 1 still did not like to coexist. NB support again told me it's one or the other, not both.

I will give it another shot VK as I'd really like to use it. I will have time. Thanks for all the input here.

Uninstalling NewBlue Titler do not delete all the files: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=12&MessageID=897540

I had to delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\NewBlue\TitlerEx.ofx.bundle\Contents\Win64\TitlerEx.ofx" manually.

I reinstalled MS13 per Ed's instructions and it is working now. It's appearance is similar to Titler Pro 3. It did not look that way before. I am a happy camper. And VK thanks for the encouragement. If not for you I would not have given it another chance. :).

Speaking of NB Titler EX, I thought it was bundled free? Well, that seemed to be the case prior to MS13, but now when I launch it the choice is either a 30-day trial or provide a serial number?

As it happens I didn't get much use out of it on previous versions of MS anyway as it seemed to crash often... and I'm not sure I liked it all that much to be honest. Seemed to be really clunky and for me, overly complicated... but I wouldn't have minded having another crack at it. Anyway, if I have to spend more $ to get a full working version, well... not gonna happen.

Sherz,
NB TitlerEx (MSPPS13) comes free with Movie Studio 13 Suite. Your 13 Suite order confirmation email from SCS should have the serial number.
I don't know if the NB TitlerEx from MSPS 12 works in MSP 13 as a trial only. The bundled Titler Pro 1 from VPro 11/12 works as a trial only in VPro 13, unless one takes up the special offer from NBFX.

vkmast - I checked the email from SCS, it only contains serials for MS13 Platinum and DVD Architect, no mention of Titler EX.

Sherz,
did you order MSP 13 or MSS 13? The MSS 13 (Suite) email should have about nine serial numbers/codes to activate the various programs/add-ons. MSP 13 does not have TitlerEx bundled.

What I ordered was an upgrade - "Movie Studio 13 Platinum Upgrade "

- from MS12 Platinum. I had Titler EX in MS12, and previously MS11. Not sure what the difference between MSS and MSP is?? My original order dating back to version 9 was a bundle that included MS, DVD architect, Soundforge and some other stuff. Is that Platinum? Dunno.

Certainly with this latest upgrade, NB Titler is still included... just no serial #.
Anyway... it all seems too complicated! I can live without it.

Curiously looking through my confirmation emails I see I also have something called Cinema Looks and TitleStrip from Vasst. Had no idea! Doh! Probably don't run under MS13 64-bit I'm guessing. they're a couple of years old now.

>>>Not sure what the difference between MSS and MSP is??<<<
MSS is Movie Studio Suite, MSP is Movie Studio Platinum.
See the comparison tables here.

>>>Certainly with this latest upgrade, NB Titler is still included... just no serial #<<<
So the case does seem to be similar to TitlerPro 1 re VPro 13.

>>>I also have something called Cinema Looks and TitleStrip from Vasst. Had no idea!<<<
Maybe you just included them in your purchase by choosing them in the ordering process? OTOH, I seem to remember they were offered as free downloads at one time.

Anyway, I have (the VASST FASST Apps) Cinema Looks and TitleStrip running in MSPlatinum 12 and 13 64-bit. Install and look under View > Extensions.

There was an updated build after Movie Studio 13 was released. Versions prior to Movie Studio 13 being released would not recognize Movie Studio 13 and would give a watermark. You need to contact NewBlue for the update.

Thanks for the input folks.

I now have Cinema Looks and TitleStrip running in MS13 ! Had them for two years and never realised. Must have completely forgot about them when I first downloaded.

Meanwhile perhaps I need to contact Sony and/or NB re TitlerEX.though I see it's not actually part of Platinum. However, I mostly work in MS12 (as MS13 is horrible) and TitlerEX was obviously included in Platinium 12 as I got to experience it crash regularly.

Some important things I was reminded of today:

1. Title Strip Volume 1 is a VASST product not NewBlue's. There seems to be some confusion for people on this point.

2. It will not show up on your 'My Software' or 'My Orders' on this SONY website under 'My Account' on the menu above. At least it doesn't on mine.

3. If you need to install it and lost the link to the installer file, I might post it later, but you probably found it in an email link at the time you purchased your SONY product. I suggest if you get the link, you download it to your hard-drive which can take about five minutes depending on your internet connection.

4. If you install it, don't have any versions of Movie Studio running. The installation is relatively fast and you will not be prompted for your REGISTRATION code.

5. After starting Movie Studio, go to VIEW > EXTENSIONS (unfortunately there is more than one 'extensions' submenu on the main menu, creating some ambiguity).

6. You should see 'VASST TitleStrip' listed. The first time you click it, you will be prompted for your 13 digit (and 12 hyphens) registration code. Entering the code correctly should quickly add a unique TAB to your video effects window.

I had to be reminded of all this after a Windows registry problem that caused the "TitleStrip Error: Cannot find Install Directory. Installation may be corrupt, please reinstall." window to pop-up under my Movie Studio splash screen at start-up.

A big 'thank you' to John Rofrano at Sundance Media Group / VASST for helping to sort this problem out for me.

Yes, I realize the original post is supposed to be about 'New Blue Titler' - but I suspect some people having the problem with VASST Titler1 as I had will land here, as I did.
