(Vegas 12, Build 726) I have a multi-cam project where I was cutting between two cameras. I decided to go back and change some of the cuts to cross-fades, so I expanded the multi-cam layer and start dragging the edges of the cuts.
However, Vegas wouldn't show me the transition length! Usually it shows the duration as a numerical value right in the middle of the transition so I can quickly set them to the same length. This was driving me nuts as I do this all the time and I've never had this problem before.
I discovered that it did work with new media I put on the track, and found out that Vegas won't show the duration with grouped media, unless you click "Ignore Event Grouping" on the toolbar. Then it shows the duration values again.
You can test it for yourself by putting three solid color events on the timeline, overlapping them slightly, and grouping them all together (select all and hit "g"). Then, if you try to adjust one of the transitions, you won't see the overlap duration unless you click "Ignore event grouping"
Hopefully that will help someone else who might be tearing their hair out like I did.
