You Tube playback mystery

My computer is flying with everything else but You Tube. When playing a clip from any wesite the video stops in the first few seconds and then continues, but it is only in 144p It will run for awhile and then stop at random and be dead in the water. There is no problem with Vimeo or streaming from other players. I'm puzzled here. Very little satisfaction from the help files at you tube.

AFAIK, YouTube uses a Flash player, so perhaps you need to update your Flash player at the Adobe site.

You are not confusing these crashes with pauses while the file downloads are you?

I have Flashplayer12..I never had this problem for as long as I've been using You Tube.

You might also want to try using a different web browser.

Or check your browser's Add Ons. You'd be surprised to find out many stray add-ons even browsers like Chrome and Firefox tend to accumulate!

Who's your ISP? That was happening to me almost every night. Things would be fine during the day, and that at night, it's like someone put the brakes on YouTube, with exactly the symptoms you are describing. In the morning, everything would be fine.

When I googled it, a lot of other people were seeing the same thing. The ISP's won't admit it, but I think they intentionally throttle some traffic.

Verizon is my isp. Everything else is fine. That is where the mystery comes in.I did a speed test and it did appear slow, but they tell me they use a different method to transmit or move the data over the net.I'm getting cable at the end of the month. We'll see what happens.
