My Track Headings Have Disappeared!

Peyton-Todd wrote on 12/10/2013, 5:00 PM
I'm not sure if 'headings' is the correct term. What I'm referring to are the 'labels', as they might also be called, that have always appeared to the left of each track for all the many years I have been using Vegas - the ones where you can mute a track by pressing the 'circle with diagonal line' icon, for example. I have looked through the full menu and cannot find anything that would turn them back on.

I have also verified that it happens in older VEG files, so it does not appear to be specific to the particular file in which the problem first appeared.

Any suggestions?

There may be a thicker border at the left edge of the timeline. If you hover the mouse over it, the pointer may change to a double-headed arrow something like this: <-||->. If it does, drag to the right and you'll increase the width of the headers. It's possible you accidentally dragged that divider line so far to the left that you gave them a zero width.

Same as above, but in picture form:

If you hover your mouse around the edge you should see a double arrow where you can resize by dragging. You can do that with a number of areas in the workspace.

Also try hitting Shift+F11. Look in the Help for Keyboard shortcuts and search for ones dealing with track list. They're all ones dealing with F11.

Yes, that was EXACTLY the problem! All I had to do was just drag the track headers back open. Many many thanks to all of you. {:- )

Don't forget you can simply double click that vertical bar to instantly hide or restore the track headers. Can free up real estate very easily.
