This is a wild guess, but is the source capture from SnagIt? See: SnagIt 11 Video Capture

Finally fixed in the latest release of Vegas 12.

AAC has always caused problems for me on import to Vegas. Use TSmuxeR (free download) to demux the audio/video then see if the video imports. Then convert the AC to something a little more.... 'normal' and import. It almost always works for me
