Uploaded video to YouTube and orientation whacked

My sis-in-law and I both took video via iPhones for a surprise for my nephew. I wanted to put it together along with some pics for him. The first issue I had to work on was the orientation of the video was whacky.

How do I explain it? While the video itself looked to be in a landscape orientation, the box it was in was in portrait orientation...so I didn't get the full use of the box.

I added the stills on a separate track (in hindsight, a text track). In Vegas Pro 12, the are all oriented correctly. When the video got rendered and uploaded to YouTube, everything was turned 90 degrees counter-clockwise.

How did I mess this up?

One last question...I just can't seem to get how to do text as a lead in to the video. When I tried it with "Isaak's Surprise", the letters all didn't fit. I used all of the default settings. I think it is tied in to whatever I had messed up which I described earlier.

Here's the YouTube link:

Forgot how to put the links in a post. Trying again:

Those phones shoot portrait, not landscape.
There should be a Rotate function to correct this in the phone editing app.

In Vegas, you would reverse the project dimensions, rotate the video 90 deg., and render same orientation as the project.

that's the thing I don't get...that's what I did. When I brought it into Vegas I rotated everything. It looks fine in the preview window. It's the rendered version that rotated 90 degrees.

"and render same orientation as the project."

Post your project properties, complete render properties, and MediaInfo for both source and render if this doesn't seem to be working.

From the properties:

Template: Custom 1280x720, 29.970 fps
Width: 1,280 Field Order: Upper field first
Height: 720 Pixel aspect ratio: 1.0000 (Square)
Output rotation: 90 clockwise
Frame rate: 29.970 (NTSC)
Stereoscopic 3D mode: Off
Pixel format: 8-bit
Full-resolution rendering quality: Good
Motion blur type: Gaussian
Deinterlace method: Blend fields
Adjust source media to better match project or render settings -- is checked

I'm not sure where to look for complete render properties and MediaInfo? Does it matter that I simply did an upload to YouTube instead of rendering first?

Yes.

I wish we could track threads and be notified when they are updated. I don't get to the forum as often as I could/should.

I rendered, then uploaded, and it worked fine. Thanks for the input!
