Subject:Recognizing different mics

I'm experiencing troubles with SF letting me select different mics that I plug in. It likes my less expensive plug and play mic but won't let me select my Audio Technica. Anyone have any advice?

What model of Audio Technica mic?

Does it show up in the Audio MIDI Setup Utility on OSX?
