Editing Clips in SoundForge Error

I keep getting a "No template was specified when I open a file in Soundforge make changes and then attempt to save it. Is this because the file I opened was a clip dragged in from the Trimmer? Ho to avoid this problem. Thanks,

In the Vegas timeline, try right-clicking on the audio track and select "Open copy in Soundforge". When you complete your edit the saved work will be there as another take.

Thanks, but shouldn't it work without making a copy? I use copies for experiments and changes I'm not sure about.. Still, a workaround is better than nothing.
