Free Platinum Tech Support

I see an offer in the current SCS news letter for free platinum tech support with a new purchase or upgrade.

"Through June 26, buy or upgrade to any Pro product (Vegas Pro, ACID Pro, Sound Forge Pro, or SpectraLayers Pro), and you'll get a free Platinum Support Plan — a $149.95 value — included with your order."

If anyone here actually does this I think we'd all be curious to find out if the paid program is any help. Do they respond in a timely fashion? Are their answers helpful?

Let us know!

Is no one taking advantage of the new pay as you go or account prepaid tech support? Really?

In my experience the ordinary support is next to worthless. Is the paid support of any value?

Well, if I was trying to sell people on paid support plans I'd see the perceived total worthlessness of the free support as a problem. If you're going to sell a service you ought to put some salesmanship into it.

I've never had an issue that required paid support.

If I was making $$ off Vegas (enough money to say "look at me, I'm making a killing of using this app!") I'd buy the service.

If you're making money the problems won't come up in your spare time, they'll come up during billable time. The value of real tech support is much, much higher at those moments.

I'm an employee and working on someone's dime all day. If I had to spend an entire day fixing a problem with Vegas or anything else it'd cost more then twice as much as the paid tech support.

I think we have support contracts for 3 or 4 things in the office. A few servers, RAID arrays, a Quantum Superloader, a mail server, and a firewall. We've used tech support on all of them and it's been worth the cost. The longest waits we've had were 30 minutes. Vegas's free support response times are counted in weeks and months and I've never heard of them pushing paid support when you ask for help.
