Subject: With NAB almost completed is ACID Pro 7.0 dead?

It is quite disconcerning to see that the Get Media STILL has not been updated since September of 2012.

My e-mail to tech support said, try the 8packs.... That was NOT an answer but a redirect in my opinion. So, has the programmer for ACID left or what? Just announce it already that you are basically killing off this great program.

I use ACID Pro 7 for loop editing only and not Midi stuff so for me this is working fine, but I understand that Windows 7 64bit users will have issues with some 32bit plug-ins not working because they have not been updated.

I just wish SONY would come clean and say what is going on. I stopped buying the Loop Libraries once they switched to "download only" since I prefer physical copies and I have a slow Internet connection at home.

I'm assuming this product is Dead since the last update was from Feb 2010.

Sure looks that way. Especially with SCS not commenting on the product or the lack of advertising for it anymore. Also SCS will not make a "BOO" about it on their Facebook or Twitter accounts when someone comments about the product. It would be very hard at this point to turn the product around after leaving it in its current state i.e.: current version which was created in October 2008.
SCS isn't the only one that hasn't released an update - i.e.: LOGIC - although Logic has received some fixes along the way.

What's happening with ACID these days? Can you say anything about its future development?
"ACID is still a heavy player in our product line for remix artists and loop-based music producers. Our Sound Series loop library titles working in ACID is still the fastest way to generate great-sounding, royalty-free music on a computer for any purpose.

"After 15 years, we're still releasing Sound Series loop library titles, and we're still driven by the idea that everyone, regardless of their background in music, should be able to generate great tracks for any purpose with a simple EULA and a small budget."

That's a really nice way to skirt around the answer and provide 0 details on the future of Acid Pro. Pathetic!

Thanks for posting that Twitter feed.

Interesting. How about some patches and/or fixes especially for the 32bit plugs-ins that I read in this forum somewhere that do not work with Windows 7 64bit edition.

They COULD at least fix that outstanding issue. I'm pretty sure Microsoft will be going with 64bit OS from now on (Windows 8+)

I see they still update the ACID Music Studio for Windows 7,8 systems but nothing for the Pro version. Seems very very strange.

Thanks again,

Nothing strange about it at all. They'll develop the "Studio" version until it contains all the Pro features. All I need are input busses and I'll switch in a second. Gonna use Pro until it does. No mystery where Sony is going with this.

In other words its dead. just gonna milk this cow dry. as most can see its main customers are gone and are no longer barking for a new version. most have moved on. acid pro was a very good platform to learn from but when you start growing but the company isn't you can stick around if it does everything you want it to do.
