VP12 doesn't do audio

Occasionally I have an issue to where if I drag an HDV clip (.m2t) onto the timeline the head of the video has a glitch for a few seconds and I have just a piece of the entire audio but if I play in windows media player it's fine.
My workaround has been running it through Handbrake but this is getting old...any suggestions?

You say "occasionally".

Do you mean occasionally you find a clip that always misbehaves in exactly the same way, or do you mean occasionally a clip at random misbehaves but next time it is OK?

Thanks Peter...I mean occasionally I find a clip that always misbehaves in exactly the same way...even if I try to drag it from the CF card to a hard drive again, it looks the same in VP12...but plays fine in WMP ...and Handbrake has no problem converting it.
