I bought the program, studied the manual, reviewed what training was available, but for some reason the cursor arrow does not appear in the work area. It simply disappeaars when I move from the toolbar or either side panel. I've been waiting for a reply for several days from customer service. Perhaps, one of you good people out there can help me. The cursor is not a problem in any other program or I would get a new mouse. Thank you in advance. Bob

I had a hard time getting started with this software also. It's interface makes adequate sense once you figure it out but...

I don't think you'll ever see your mouse cursor in the work window. If you import a new layer (a sound file) and then press ctrl-F, do magnifying glasses appear in the work area when you hover there, for example? If they do, things are working. This is your cursor, of sorts, for zooming the vertical scale of the display. Drag it up or down to expand the view of the frequencies. Then use the elevator bar to position to the frequencies you want to see.

When you want to extract something, you have to be certain that you have first created a new layer and made it ready for the extraction (ctrl-shift-N). It's ready if it's highlighted red. Just click on a layer to highlight it red.

Once those stars are aligned, so to speak, select a tool and then you'll see varieties of things happening as you move your cursor around the work area, most likely. Click on something and see what happens! There tends to be a small indication in the window of the frequency you're hovering at, etc.

Hope that's helpful - and accurate. I am, by no means, an expert, but I do use the software all the time in my work.
