LED lights on guitarist fingers video...

I saw a video posted here several weeks back where a video technique using LED lights on fingers was posted. I want to look at the video again and consider using a similar technique in an upcoming video. My search attempts aren't working.

Can someone point me to a link to that thread please?

Couldn't find it, but if that technique doesn't pan out, how about UV paint on the fingernails and UV illumination?

I don't believe that is LED light effect. It looks like the Vegas "Glint" or "Starburst" video FX.

From the original thread:
I had the band members wear little LED finger lights that are commonly found at toy or party stores. A Vitascene light effect further enhanced the radiance of the LEDs.

Yes Mike, you found the one I was looking for. Thanks! It is an interesting effect on the guitar players fingers but now that I see it again it isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I want to put lights on fingers but I want them to leave more of light trail like the ipod nano spot if you remember. I think that effect is done largely with a plugin in AE called something I can't remember. Maybe Particular.

Anyway, finding non-blinking, soft-glowing led lights that can be worn comfortably on the fingers is probably the best place to start and then an Andrew Kramer tutorial is probably in order!

UV paint is a very interesting idea but I'm not sure it would give the light trails effect I need as I don't think it would provide enough contrast. Do you have any experience with this effect? Any examples?

If you want your lights to leave a trail then Motion Blur would be where I'd start using only Vegas.

Set motion blur type to one of the Asymmetric variants in Project Properties
Duplicate the track
Apply a luminance key to the new track.
Turn Off MB to all tracks but the one with the keyed lights

Cool idea Bob! Also, it looks like the kind of thing I can easily begin to experiment with using scenes that include a high contrast light spot in them.

I didn't do this video, so I'm not certain about the technique used, but it certainly looks like UV was used to light up the drumsticks.

For only $29, check out Pixelan StepMotion 2.
From the site:
StepMotion is a simple but powerful video effects plugin for image ghosting, trailing, and other time-delay video effects which are especially useful in high-motion footage. Unlike standard echo or ghosting video effects that simply combine frames from two or more instances during a clip, StepMotion can produce a more attractive, progressively-faded visual echo to motion in a scene.

You may be able to get a poor mans version of this effect by copying the clip to multiple tracks and manually stepping each clip and reduce the opacity to create a ghosting effect.

I kind of played around w/ this effect on this video @ 2:12.

Pls note the quality of this video sucks, the lighting was VERY VERY DARK about twice as dark than the video posted here. This was a very challenging vid to edit for one it was dark and the light man was constantly changing the lighting thru the gig. Had about an hours worth of music but this was the best one, barely worth posting. (;

This is actually a good comparison of the low light performance of between the Sanyo Xacti FH-1A and Pani TM700. The TM700 comes in at 4:07 into the vid.

Another thing that was painful about this video was I lost my RODE on-cam mic and portable mini Roland recorder, I did't pack the bag because it was dark and the bag was black and may have left it behind. Went back to see if anyone turned it in but nada. ):
