Subject:Won't Record MP3 Track

Hi,
I've imported several MP3 tracks into the ACID Music Studio 8.0 Projects folder.
Wenever I play one of these tracks, I arm the track etc, the in and out meter level reading is moving on the slider bars. However when I try to record the meter levels vanish and nothing is recorded.
Any help appreciated.
