rendering old 4:3 DVD for internet

Hi,
I have an old DVD (something I shot years ago) I now have on the timeline (burned the TS file to DVD and used the camcorder disc import) and it doesn't look awful but I need to cut out a few chunks and render to the best internet settings...if I choose show match properties only it only shows audio templates.
Any suggestions on the best way to do this?
Thanks very much,
Randy

Randy, if you're running Pro 10, use the Sony AVC Internet 640x480-30p preset.
With Pro 11 and newer, use the MainConcept Internet 640x480-30p preset.
You can try the Internet 1280x720-30p preset but, depending on the quality of your source footage, it might not look that good.

Hey Mike... I tried that and it looked okay but the dissolves were real blocky....after that I tried Sony AVC/memory stick sd ntsc 6256 and it looks a lot better but the size is huge comparitively so I've marked both as favorites to choose from in the future.
Thanks very much Mike!

Randy, the bit rate for the 640x480-30p preset is very low (2,000,000) in comparison to the Internet 1280x720-30p which is 8,000,000 so try increasing the bit rate on the 640x480-30p preset as it will help a lot.
Good luck with it and merry Christmas!!

Thanks Mike, what do you think I should try, say 5,000,000 to see what the quality/size ratio works out to be?
Thanks again,
Randy

Randy, I'd go up in 2,000,000 increments until you find your optimum quality/size ratio.

What if you just re-render it to mpeg-2 (VBR template?) & then upload that to you youtube (assuming that's where you want it). It shouldn't re-compress, just join the files, and you'll be uploading the highest quality you'll get off the disc.
