Vegas 12 Won't Start, Gives Memory Error

...When ever I try to run Vegas 12 I get this dialog box that says that my system doesn't have enough free RAM memory, when it actually has 10 GB of free memory waiting for Vegas to use. ( I have 12 GB total, with 2 GB eaten up running Win 7 )

Vegas 11 has been running smoothly for more than a year now...

Have you ever successfully launched VP 12? If yes, I don't have any ideas for you.

If no, I believe it ships with the GPU function enabled, so you must make sure -- at least for the launch -- that you can support that. Then after you launch it, you can turn off GPU if you don't want it. Hope that helps.

I had this issue when I installed VP12 on W7x64 as Administrator and then wanted to run it as a "limited user" i.e. a Windows account that doesn't have administrative access -- which is the recommended way.

The only workaround I could find was to (a) temporarily make the limited user account ("LUA") a member of the Administrators group (b) right-click the VP12 shortcut and under "Properties | Compatibility | Privilege level" check "Run this program as an administrator (c) start VP12 once.

After that I could undo these changes and run the program under my normal, non-privileged account. I've logged this as an issue with Sony. The problem is, the vast majority of people don't bother with security and run everything with an administrative account, in which case this problem won't surface; but it is definitely a problem with VP12, which make it (strictly speaking) non-compatible with Windows 7.
