VP12 - VST plugin handler crashes, won't run

I can't get Vegas Pro 12 to run. At ALL. I've reported this to Sony during the beta test phase but apparently nothing has been done in effort to fix this issue.

Sony VST plugin handler crashes twice while it's trying to scan through my VST plugins during initial start-up, apparently Toxic Biohazard is the VST plugin which causes the Sony VST Plugin Handler to crash , at least the VST plugin handler seems to crash during Toxic's .dll scan. I have bought Toxic Biohazard from Image-Line along with FLStudio. I've tried running the program in Win7 compatibility mode as well, no luck.

Running on Win7 64-bit Ultimate, 16GB RAM. I don't experience this same problem with any of the VP11 builds, nor did I have this issue with Vegas 10 or 9. I cannot run Vegas Pro 12 because of this bug, so any help is appreciated.

Have you tried removing the offending plug-in(s) from the VstPlugins folder? This folder is typically found at C:\Program Files\Vstplugins and/or C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins.

Try moving the .dll specific to that plug-in to a different location (or, rename the file by adding ".old" - sans quotation marks - to the end of the file name). Then, launch Vegas Pro 12 again.

Let us know how it goes.

Admin is correct. Its that VST plugin you have installed that is causing you problems.
Remove every trace of it.

Thanks for the help!

I was thinking about removing the plugin, but since I've bought and paid for it and occasionally use it with other DAW tools I was rather hesitant to do so. Upon taking a closer look at the .dll files, the plugin was dated somewhere around 2005/2006 and wasn't even the version that I'm using these days -- probably a ghost of the Christmas past, so to speak. Got rid of it, now everything works.

VP12 just started up for the first time. Thanks a lot! I'm trying out the trial version, and if this thing works better than VP11 did, I just might buy the upgrade ;)

Cheers!
