Try rendering with CPU only. Look here for descriptions.

are you rendering with 5.1 surround sound or stereo? I initially couldn't render with 5.1 but only stereo. Then for no apparent reason 5.1 started working

It stopped working for me to. I installed a trial of Vegasaur and the updated NewBlue Titler Pro since it last worked, earlier this summer. And of course Windows 7 stuff. And I uninstalled Java completely.

Could any of that break it so thoroughly? It just puts up a fail message and says there is no additional information. Other renders work. I did an MPEG2 for DVDA and a Blu-ray disc render and a Quicktime.

No GPU. Tried a different drive for the output. Stereo audio output.

RESOLVED! Changing the GPU/CPU selection on the render options tab from "automatic" to 'CPU only" may have been the solution. I uninstalled a number of other things that had been added to the system too. In troubleshooting the NewBlue titler, I updated the video driver and associated management software. It got me to thinking that the way the GPU was being interfaced might have changed enough to require a specific call from the encoder versus an "automatic" choice. Thanks to whoever posted to screen grab of the encoder settings.
