Editing Camtasia Studio Files in Vegas Pro 10

Hi

I would ideally like to open Camtasia Studio capture files directly into VP10. The article at http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/working_with_a_variety_of_video_file_types suggests this is possible.

It quotes ...

"Finally, like us, many of you use Techsmith's Camtasia screen capture software to create software demos or training. To edit the AVI files from Camtasia on the Vegas Pro timeline, you'll need the TSCC codec. If you've installed Camtasia, then you already have the codec, but if you're editing on a machine that doesn't have the application, you can download the TSCC codec from the Techsmith website. Then use the Vegas Pro Explorer window to navigate to your Camtasia files and add them to your project timeline."

I do have Camtasia installed but i'm not able to see any files. Is there a step i'm missing to set up the codec within Vegas ?

Thanks
Paul

camtasia's default capture format is proprietary camrec. you have to explicitly choose avi as capture format. did you?

when you say, "i'm not able to see any files ," in vegas explorer? is it set to display all file types?

if they're avi files, you should see them.

does windows explorer see them?

Thanks for the reply dlion.

I can see now that I misread what the article was saying. I was under the impression that Vegas could read the camrec files directly.

Thanks for getting me on track. I did an export from Camtasia to AVI and opened in Vegas no problem. Vegas also reported it was using the Techsmith codec

Cheers
