I just use credit scroll. I've done longer credits then that with credit roll. Works great. Just keep in mind the limited width of the text you can use & the non-word wrapping.

Normally i paste into a standard text event, then use the Placement tab with begin & end keyframes to make it scroll. Note that you'll lose the ability to justify the columns independently if you do this, but the better quality and ease of use over the credit roll are often worth it.

If you have access to Photoshop, make 2 or 3 long, narrow images, say 960x8500 pixels. Do all your text manipulation there, then import into Vegas, keeping the event lengths the same. Use pan/crop and keyframes to roll the credits. I find it's much easier and more flexible to do it this way rather than use the built in credit roll for any other than very short, simple titles. It has the added advantage of making it easy to add graphic logos if needed.

Thanks for all your help. One question though. Do you save the photoshop data as a text or image file?

Thanks for the suggestion. Can you paste text into the credit roll titler? I didn't see where to do this.

Yes. Just click on the empty block where you want it to start and press Ctrl-V.

I save it as a layered PSD file, then drop the PSD on the timeline. Seems to scale very nicely.

Sounds great. I'm giving it a try.
Thanks for the help!

Cool. I'll give it a go.

I use Videotagger from VideoHapiness because it lets me import my credits from Excel files. I have no issues with the Vegas scrolling Credits F/X, but using Excel as the source document lets me easily edit and manage the cast and crew lists.

Videotagger is a stand-alone program that makes an AVI file of the credits roll. It also lets me insert JPEG images into the credit roll, but inserting the JPEG really slows the render a lot.
