Subject:ASIO with two devices

I want to use two ASIO devices (roland UA-1ex and m-audio transit), one for input and one for output. When I go to Options > Audio, I have to select the same ASIO device for both Record and Playback.

Is there a way to have Record use one ASIO device and Playback use a different one?

Details: Sound Forge 9.0e, Windows XP 32-bit

(also occurs on SF 9.0e, Windows 7 64-bit)

Thanks.

You need to unify the ASIO devices under one driver. One way to do this is with the ASIO4ALL driver. Google it and DL the driver. This will allow you to aggregate your ASIO devices into one, giving SF access to the I/O of both.

Thanks for the tip.

I have downloaded and installed ASIO4All and, frankly, I find it to be rather flaky. Error messages like, "computers don't like you" and the such do not engender confidence in the software.

I am continuing to battle with ASIO4All. However, the fact that config options that I see on the screen do not line up with what is in the user manual for ASIO4All, and then add in the odd error messages ... I am unconvinced that I would want to rely on the ASIO4All software to function properly.
