I have Vegas problems, just like....

My PC is an Windows 7 64bit, Intel Core i7 2.8 ghz overclocked, 24 gig RAM, ATI V5800 FirePro, OS is on a 120 gig mother board RAID SSD, dedicated LSI RAID controller with a 4TB RAID 0 HDD & a 480 gig RAID 0 SSD array, and another 3TB mother board RAID 1.

I never used footage from a Canon 7D in Vegas 9 64 bit until recently. The footage played ok on the timeline but there seem to be some hang ups at times and renders were long. So I downloaded the trial of Vegas 11, now the timeline playback is really bad/slow, choppy but the render times gave improved quite a bit.

I also notcied when rendering using 32bit color I get a weird coloring rotating around my footage during render. It is kinda like the screen changes colors throughout the render, from purple to red ect.

I have the latest drivers for my GPU but I can't even use that for rendering because Vegas crashes when trying to render mp4 so I have to turn that off. Is Sony working on fixing the real time playback? Any suggestions?

In respect to the native codec from the 7D and Vegas 9 that is not suprising. I don't believe any NLE worked well with the DSLRs when they first came to market and think that would around the same time as the spoken of version of Vegas.

I respectively transcoded my 7D footage the Sony MXF codec and have zero problems.

In respect to Version 11, I just recently did some work from the 7D MOV files and had no issue. Have you turned off GPU support? Because my card under performs, I noticed an improvement when I did such.

"just like everyone else...."

Speak for yourself. Yes there are a couple of dozen people on the forums who are experiencing problems, but many, many more who are quite happy with Version 11.

Sounds like a bit of an Over Statement.

I've only had a few Crashes with V11 64bit but no more than I have with Premiere, FCP, or Avid on both Mac & PC. No real problems with V11.

NewBlue Titler Pro seems to normally be the cause of my Crashes although V11 64bit does occasionally display the Crash Report when I'm exiting.

Yes, the box is a custom build.

Awesome specs, but I always suspect there's some bottleneck or underlying compatibility problem with custom builds.

Hope things get worked out as it's so much more fun to edit than troubleshoot.

Yes we are, I am over here in New Jersey. I also downloaded the new update and yay? It seems to have fixed my issues? I hope so, that would be nice. Seems as if I am now getting real time playback with some small color correction & levels adjustment applied.

V11 to me was very different. Much new stuff like OFX and the render menu. Now what should I use in the render file---Sony MFX? MPEG2? They both seem OK to me. Looking for some enlightenment. Where do I install the scripts? Third Party stuff? Maybe they should have added a short blurb on new procedures like "You can do this now or this or that now". How many 3D blocks do I have to check to make 3D? Watch how the new Auto Preview jumps back and forth like popcorn popping? What new tug of war concerning Sony/Cineform is occurring? The CUDA thing was a very big nut to crack. After watching 3D on a normal non 3D tv (which was very good) do I need a 3D tv? A 3D video card? A 3D monitor? Which system do I use? Do I have to start taking Omega 3 pills to get through this? Why does "selectively render" not play back on the timeline (and install as a take) but if I click on the saved file Nero will play it back perfectly?
