NewBlueFX GPU versions registration problems

I recently bought upgrades to the GPU versions of NewBlueFX Video Essentials 1-5. Volumes 1-3 upgraded fine, but 4 & 5 won't register properly and I am back to having watermarks when I use these plugins. What I get is a message saying the activation with the new code is successful, but when I try to leave this screen, it is still in activation mode and no activation has actually occured. Is anyone else having this problem? I think it is a problem on their end so somebody else confirming this would be really helpful right now.

I have had similar problems but they always seemed to get resolved pretty quickly. For example when the activation code said it was successful and yet still in trial mode, I needed to just close Vegas and open it again.

Like you, I also upgraded Essentials 1-5 all at the same time. And also like you there seemed to be a difference in the way they were activated. I got them all to work immediately, but I remember there was a different procedure and to be honest I wasn't paying THAT close attention and my memory is not that great. But I seem to recall the first three already had the new serial number in the activation window and all I had to do was press activate. And I think for 4 and 5, I had to manually enter the new serial code, press the "Purchase Online" button, and then it said it was activated.

I know that's probably not much help to you, but I can confirm there was something different in the way 1-3 and 4-5 were activated.

Where can I find the upgrade offer on the NewBlue home page?

I have found that if I check the "Disable GPU tab" that I can get rid of the watermark as it then uses the old non-GPU license, but while that will get me through my current projects, that is hardly a fix.

OK I seem to have fixed this. I uninstalled both versions 4 & 5, and when I went to reinstall them, there was a couple of files that couldn't be overwritten by the installation. I exited the installation and tried to delete them again but couldn't because they were in use. I started the task manager and quit the tasks that were using the files, deleted the entire folder, then tried to install again. This time it activated perfectly and I am now running 4 & 5 with GPU acceleration.

Ok, this is a huge long shot, but I had a similar problem with a vst plugin, and what turned out to be I had never seen before.

I am using Win7 x64, and would follow the install and the S/N registration process and it would not stick. every time I exited and reloaded the vst, it would complain about needing the key.

The vendor told me to make sure all or the files were read/write. And the were, I cleared the read only flags.

Then I happened to notice a new property option telling me that the file came from another computer.

Well, I have a little poopy server where I store all of my master copies of all of my software, and I just install them over the net from that share. Turns out win 7 saw that the files were coming from another computer and set some sort of flag I couldn't clear.

I uninstalled the plug, copied the installer to my local drive, and then reinstalled it, and low and behold it fixed the registration problem.

It's worth a shot.

Laurence, that is because Vegas does not always properly shut down. The best thing is to reboot and then immediately install the new products before starting Vegas. Alternately, you can open Task Manager and make sure everything related to Vegas is shut down before installing.

That makes sense, except that on my system Vegas never properly shuts down.

In that case, the following probably makes sense:

1/ Never install a Vegas plugin except after a fresh reboot.
2/ Never quit Vegas and restart it without a reboot.
