Subject:Not Able To Add New VST .dll's to Acid Studio 6

I've been running this software for several years on my Windows XP system without software problems. Last week, I bought a new system with Windows 7. After installing the program, I added some VSTi modules I'd used on my old Windows XP by adding them to the /VSTPlugins folder created by Acid 6 when it installed. When I tried to add the 2 the VSTi's to my project, those added modules are not showing up in the list of VST effects. However, they are present when viewing the .dll's in Windows Explorer in that /VSTPlugins folder. It worked fine on the old XP system, but not seeing them on the Windows 7 system.

How can I add new modules and get them to work in Windows 7?

1) Make sure Acid is looking for the VST's in the right folder by going to preferences and clicking on the respective tabs for VST instruments and effects and verify the folder you copied them to is the same place you copied the dll's too. If not either move them to the folder ACid has listed to scan or move the files to the folder Acid has listed. Once you have verified that, have Acid scan the folder again.

2) Make sure that the plugins you have match in terms of being 32-bit or 64-bit. If you have 32 bit plugins and you installed a 64-bit version of acid, they will not work

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have verified that the .dll's are in the folder where Acid expects them to be. Acid 6 is a 32-bit application (it's 5+ yrs old) and the plugins I'm using are, too. Again, they worked fine under Windows XP. I've done a "refresh" twice, plus it refreshes each time you launch Acid. It just doesn't see them.

One thing I did not mention in the original post is that I've also reinstalled my copies of Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum and Sound Forge Studio 9 and both are able to find the plugin dll's with no problem and they work fine in those two applications.

I tried 'Asking a Question' in the Sony Tech Support section on the website and it told me that since the version I have is a legacy version, it's no longer supported. That's why I'm here. Any other thoughts?

What is the folder you have ACID scanning for. VSTs?

What is the folder you have placed you VSTs in?

Please be specific.

Peter

Peter...

Under "Options" in "Preferences" on the "VST" and "VSTi" tabs, the default VST and VSTi search folders are configured as: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins\". That is the folder where I placed the .dll's files for the modules of interest. The file "installer.phdata" is also located in that folder and I assume that file was placed there when the folder was created during the installation of Acid .

My installation of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 is configured exactly the same way (with the exception that only a "VST" tab exists and not a "VSTi" tab) and the modules in question do show up in it's "Preferences" - "VST" tab window and the modules are also available for use in my projects.

Thanks for your help with this issue. Any additional thoughts on the issue?
