Subject:Perfect Clarity and Loop/Sampler data

I just got a bit of a shock from SF5.0d. For the first time in my current project, I'm working exclusively with Perfect Clarity Audio .pca files as source material for sound design. I converted all my rips from my CD libraries to .pca format, and I'm saving all intermediate mix files to .pca. The only thing I save to .wav is the final sound file.

Tonight, I saved an intermediate mix file that contained a sample loop. It was a mono 22KHz 16 bit file, with no funny stuff other than our copyright data that goes in the RIFF summary by default. I saved and closed the file, then tried to come back to it to build another loop from it. To my horror, I discovered that the loop points were ***gone***.

I went through the help files, searched the knowledge base, and searched the forums online, but I have not found anything that discusses the .pca format in any depth. It now seems that it's quite likely that all of my previous loopwork that I saved in .pca files is no longer there, and it doesn't look like there's anything I can do about it (or could have done, since there's NO WARNING about loop data not being saved).

Is it in fact true that loop data is discarded when a file is saved in .pca format? Why isn't it included as part of the "metadata" that's mentioned at the bottom of each save dialog? All a loop is to begin with it a RIFF SMPL chunk, just like the name, copyright, and other RIFF chunk data that ***does*** get saved in a .pca format file. Is this a bug, or is this intentional???
